Matthew Hood OBE
Matt is the chair of governors. He is a co-founder and the Principal at Oak National Academy. He is also Chair at Petteril Bank Primary School in Carlisle, Governor at Lancaster and Morecambe College and an independent adviser to the Department for Education. He was a founder at Ambition Institute, the UK’s larger provider of teacher and school leader professional development. And a founding trustee at The Brilliant Club, the UK’s largest widening participation charity. He was awarded an OBE for services to education in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Mark Hamblett
Mark is the vice chair of governors. He is the lead governor for safeguarding, child protection, behaviour and SEND.
Having taught in Cumbria and Lancashire since 2002, Mark has been a primary school headteacher for the last ten years in three different schools; most recently a large academy in Blackpool. He is the Chief Executive of Zest Academy Trust. Mark also facilitates taught sessions on the Initial Teacher Training course provided by Blackpool Sea View Trust.
Mark is very active in his role as an Elder at Kendal United Reformed Church where he regularly leads services in this and other URCs such as Hest Bank and Halton. When not working or in church, Mark is also a fitness instructor, teaching Zumba and spinning classes in Hest Bank and his home town of Kendal.
Pete Moser
Pete is the lead governor for music and the arts. He is a composer, performer, producer and facilitator and was the founder and Artistic Director of More Music, one of the foremost community music charities in the UK (www.moremusic.org.uk).
He has written scores for theatre, opera and dance projects as well as songs for occasions and large-scale choral and orchestral pieces.
Pete is a multi-instrumentalist and teaches percussion, voice, brass and song writing as well as the art of running workshops. He co-edited and wrote chapters in ‘Community Music : A Handbook’, a book that is aimed at inspiring and empowering music leaders. Most impressively, he is the Fastest-One-Man-Band-In-The-World (www.fastestonemanband.com.)!
Allison Hui
Allison is the lead governor for transition to post-16 education and careers. She is a Lecturer at Lancaster University in Sociology, with an expertise in research methods and discussions of social agency, change and consumption.
She is also Director of Student Engagement, Recruitment and Admissions in the Sociology Department. She been involved in higher education in three continents.
She was a musical director in a theatre as well as an accompanist and vocal coach for choirs and singers. She also has a breadth of experience in public event design, communications and publishing.
Councillor Margaret Pattison
Margaret is the lead governor for community engagement. She is a Lancashire County Councillor for Morecambe Central, Shadow Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing and also sits on the Lancashire Combined Fire Authority.
She is also a Morecambe Town Councillor and sits on the Festivals and Events Committee and Personnel Committee.
Lesley Lewis
Lesley is the lead governor for Finance and Operations. She works in operations and supporting teaching at Westgate Primary School.
She is also Chair of Governors at Castle View Primary School in Lancaster. She is a former supervisor at Marks and Spencer and teaches dance in a local dance studio.
Laura Jackson
Laura is the staff governor. She is currently the Senior Leader for Curriculum Implementation supporting staff development and leading the SEND and literacy provision within school. She is also an English Teacher.
