TRAVEL AND TOURISM
Why study Travel and Tourism?
At Bay Leadership Academy we want our students to develop the knowledge and understanding of the tourism industry; to build robust research and analytical skills to become a valued employee upon leaving education. At KS4 we study the BTEC L2 Tech Award in Travel and Tourism. The students learn how organisations within the industry work together to ensure the customers have the best possible experience and to successfully work to budgets and customer profiles.
How will I study Travel and Tourism?
Morecambe is a tourist town and therefore teaching of topics in this subject is based on real life case studies that the students have prior knowledge of. This allows the students the opportunity to see the theory in context. Students will study 3 units over 2 years all of which are assessed under exam conditions. Recall activities will be used throughout the course to ensure knowledge is kept at the forefront.
What will I study at Key Stage 3?
Travel and Tourism is not studied directly at Key Stage 3, but is an option for Key Stage 4.
The foundational knowledge for Travel and Tourism is cross-curricular, with elements being spread across other subjects.
What will I study at Key Stage 4?
